Samantha Woods
Director & Occupational Therapist
Sam is the owner of Therapy Works CQ and the author of the multi-sensory literacy program Write2Spell2Read. Sam has 28 years’ experience as an Occupational Therapist, and after graduating from Occupational Therapy at the University of Queensland in 1990, Sam worked at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane in spinal injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke rehabilitation, and hand therapy.
She later moved to Rockhampton and worked for Queensland Health at the Rockhampton Base Hospital and at the Community and Public Health Service. In these settings, Sam provided therapy services to children (0-5 years) within the Neurodevelopmental Clinic and treated adults. Sam has also worked in the area of Adult Private Practice in acquired brain injury rehabilitation, workplace rehabilitation, and medico-legal assessment. Sam is a certified Neurodevelopmental Therapist, and in 2006, established her own private practice, Therapy Works for Kids in Rockhampton, and began working with children in a variety of settings, both independently and alongside Speech Pathologists and Physiotherapists.
Sam was a practicing therapist at Therapy Works for Kids until 2014, when she has moved to Brisbane to support her own children’s progress in their educational pursuits. Sam is excited that Therapy Works for Kids has expanded to become Therapy Works CQ and can now provide therapy to all ages.
Sam continues to work closely with the practicing therapists from Brisbane and works with early learning centers, schools, and therapists around Australia who are teaching the Write2Spell2Read multisensory literacy program.
